For seven years I ran my own sewing and alterations business up in the mountains. Now that I've moved in town, I'm ready to start up the business again and re-establish my clientele. The difference this time will be the goal of my business. Before, I didn't really have a goal - the business was just for fun/pocket change. This round, it will be to grow and eventually be able to live off of it. My mistake the first time around was short-selling myself. In an effort to be insanely competitive, I did things too cheaply. Bad business move!
Out of necessity, I need this business venture to supply at least the income I had before I left my job. ((oh yeah, by the way, I just had a baby on the 28th of December and worked all the way up until the day before I had him.)) To make this happen, I need to act fast, get ads out there and make some product that I can sell on craigslist and ebay. Shouldn't be too hard...knock on wood.
My assignment for myself for the next couple of days is to call various shops in the area where I could possibly do consignment. There are plenty in my area, so time to get in gear!
